After establishing their initial urban office at 800 Fulton Market to aid in the recruitment of local tech talent, John Deere executives subsequently decided to expand the footprint, creating a dedicated executive suite to complement their global headquarters in Moline, Illinois.
Located on an adjacent floor to their existing office, the new space provides dedicated areas for the executives while remaining physically connected with the rest of the staff located in Chicago.
The office features a clear organizational structure, separating public spaces—dedicated to board and executive meetings, guest hosting, and company events—from private spaces, which include executive offices and administrative support.
Building upon the design and material strategies of the initial space, this project incorporates enhanced amenities, privacy, and security tailored specifically for an executive environment and its visitors.
The industrial character of the building is preserved, evident in the exposed structure and polished concrete floor. Wood paneling, vertical wood slats, and custom-upholstered banquettes bring comfort, warmth, and texture to the public areas. The open pantry is anchored by a serving island and seating arrangement under a welcoming, luminous ceiling.
The private zone includes several unassigned offices for global executives along with supporting service spaces and meeting rooms. Defined by dark walls and wood furniture, these spaces offer comfort, hospitality, and heightened privacy. Each office leverages the floor-to-ceiling glass façade, ensuring ample natural light and sweeping views of the Fulton Market neighborhood.
Ultimately, the project provides a dedicated space to the executives of John Deere, developing the approach established in their first Chicago office and maintaining a unified vision for the space.
