Iker Gil will curate an exhibition as part of the upcoming Chicago Architecture Biennial. BOLD:Alternative Scenarios for Chicago showcase projects and ideas for the city of Chicago generated by architects who are working without the need to respond to a brief by a client. It will explore the agency of the architect in providing alternative scenarios for the city. While they are generated without a client, they operate aware of the constrains and realities of Chicago with the intention to engage with public and private agencies to shape the future of Chicago.
The exhibition will include work by 3D Design Studio, David Brown, Central Standard Office of Design, Design With Company, Hinterlands, Jahn, Ania Jaworska, JGMA, Krueck+Sexton, Landon Bone Baker, Margaret McCurry, Michael Pecirno, PORT, David Schalliol, SOM and CAMESgibson, Stanley Tigerman, UrbanLab, and WEATHERS with AECOM.
Beside the display of these projects, the goal of the exhibition is to instigate public conversations about the issues addressed in these proposals. To that end, Iker will organize a series of lectures, project presentations, and studio visits.
The Chicago Architecture Biennial opens to the public on October 3, 2015.
